Do you guys like happy endings, or sad endings more? I'm planning on making an anime/manga, and am torn between two endings I have made *sigh* What has more effect, or do you like better? The happy ending that has the good guy with the girl, and the bad guy dead, or the sad where the good guy dies? Any help would be very appreciated. :D ![]() |

Why not best of both worlds? Bad guy is alive and the good guy gets the girl :P But, the bad guy is in a world of torment cuz he lost the chance to get into the girl's pants. Lmao, sorry just being an ass. Whatever works out I think.

I prefer sad endings. Dunno why tho. Because if it has a happy ending, it just feels weird. XD |

hmm...i prefer both....it'll be too cliche if it's always a happy ending |

Although I like things to end well, its too unrealistic to have a totally happy end, because life is rarely like that. I think some good characters should have their story end in tragedy and others should have happy ending, all in the one story. But even the characters who have a basically happy ending should at least have lost something along the way. Or if there is one main hero, they should get what they want in the end, but at a serious cost, e.g. losing a friend... or a body part ^_~ ![]() |

Use the good guy dies idea... Then the girl decides to move on and she decided to go out with the bad guy... And they lived happily ever after while dominating the world... Perfect ending. Not good, not bad, just perfect... XD |

i prefer upredictable ending......ok, actually i like happy ending better |
Re: Endings in Anime: Happy or Sad?

i prefer both in love animes. give it more tragic sence and makes you cry like a baby...like me... like in "Yoake mae yori ruriiro na - Crescent Love -" when Tasuya got shot...i thought i was all over, love and death. super combo, but then the happy times come when he is revived. |

Haha, Sai! That is grand! Thanks for all of the help, peoples! (Teases Schala: Back to the original plot: EVERYBODY DIES!!!!! [but not really]) I probably will go with the sad ending. I want to see people crying, WA HA HA!!!! Well, no. But I am really sick of everything going perfectly, with a completely predictable ending and everybody runs around singing "I just wanna dance! I just wanna shine up my shoes and dance!" ... *ahem* Thanks, once again :D ![]() |

Have an over-all happy ending, but with sad right before usually works well. You get the sad, teary emotions first, and then, while EVERYTHING might not work out, at least somethings will.
Where in the nine hells did you ever find the notion that I would fight fair?

Depends on how the storyline went, and what's going on. Ambiguous endings, though, are very good. |

Omg i just watch Noir and thought one of the main characters needed to die to make me feel like the show was complete. even though chloe died she was more a important sub-character not a main. also it does depend how the story goes kinda sux to see a random ending that doesnt make sense to the particular series your watching. |

as a fanfic writer, i personally choose sad endings. It's more of a real-life situation but it depends where your heart is at the moment but i'm not saying that i'm sad. I am in fact a jolly person but i like to write sad endings. I dunno why but it's what i am craving at! Well, good luck on your work and for whatever you choose!!
i cannot protect you without a sword....
but i cann't embrace while holding a sword...

Have a happy ending wherein the good guy has to sacrifice an important part of his life (girlfriend, power i.e) and should be questioned whether he did the right thing. The bad guy should learn from his mistakes, and could travel the path of the protagonist. Or die, depending on your taste. ![]() |
