First I want to say hello to all Gendou staff... My suggestion is that all songs hosted on Gendou should be carefully tag edited for convenience purpose since the tag informations sometimes do not match the ones in the download section (singer's name,...). I have been tag editing all the songs downloaded from Gendou for my own use and I think that Gendou should do that to... |

Yeah, he could edit the ID3 tags of the MP3, but that would take a lot of time. And be honest, (sarcasm) there is nothing more fun then editing 4000 songs (/sarcasm). Besides Gendou has more important stuff to do. So be happy you can download the songs already.

Since Gendou is the only one that handles the files, yes editing 4000 tags would be bothersome, and is the reason why he doesn't. If you're really wanting to put info into the ID3 tags, just do it yourself! I mean, it's easy, right? And it's not like you're going to be tagging all the songs here, so it wouldn't take long either. :P ![]() ![]() |

Great idea lonefox! Here is what I propose: You download every single mp3 file, correct the tags as you see fit, then upload them all back to the server. I will write a script to replace the files. This should take me about 10 minutes of my time, and take you at least 87 years. Will you live that long? --- All kidding aside, it might be possible to write a program that uses LAME to edit the tags of mp3 files on the server directly, and automatically, from the database information. Such a program would take a very long time to write. Maybe over a week. I don't have that kind of time. If you want to write the program, lonefox, I will give you my database schema, and you can have at it! :P I find it interesting how, just because my website is constructed with some degree of professionalism, people assume it is staffed by 100 Microsoft employees with nothing better to do than edit ID3 tags. This is such an unrealistic view of the world! Also, people who are not technically inclined have a terrifically difficult time discerning which kinds of things are feasible and which are not, when it comes to websites and compute things. Shocking.

| I do know it would take a lot of your time...so don't bother the old ones...I mean Gendou should edit the newly uploaded songs...This makes sense since we don't have hundreds of new songs a day... |

Reasonable, well somewhat, but as reasonable as asking users to edit the tags on their own before uploading? I think not. |

say, if someone were crazy enough really download the songs, edit the tags and reupload them again...would that upload be used? (if the script gendou mentioned is not written) |
