Hello. I haven’t posted much, but I’ve been reading. The folks around here seem to be rather knowledgeable about the new anime on this site. I’m just wondering what I should download and watch. I like sci-fi titles, particularly those with lots of violence, language, nudity, etc (that is, one that doesn’t pull any punches) Elfin Lied is a good example of what I am talking about. Incredibly shocking content, while at the same time, not sacrificing plot. Robots, Magic, Fanservice, Polictal Undertones, and Monsters are all good too. I am currently enjoying; Ergo Proxy Texhnolyze Darker than BLACK Classics I liked were; Outlaw Star Elfin Lied Steel Angel Kurumi Fullmetal Alchemist Serial Experaments Lain And most of the Gundam series So anyway... Recommendations? Accolades? Death Threats? I await your reply. - JD the Sypurist Cold Truths And Warm Memories |

Hrm... I saw Eureka Seven went it was on the Adult Swim. Honestly couldn’t get into it. Don’t know. And I’ve seen Bleach, (I own the first 100 or so on DVD). Death Note? That’s the one where the kid finds deaths worklist, right? And the two main characters have similar names? I keep meaning to look into it... I think I know someone I can acquire those DVDs from. Thanks for the suggestions, but I was really asking more about the series on this site... Heh, I’ve never heard of most of the ones in there... Cold Truths And Warm Memories |

Robots, Magic, Fanservice, Polictal Undertones, and Monsters are all good too. You just described Burst Angel (Bakurestu Tenshi). Except for the magic. But there's hacking instead, if that helps. Also: Black Cat Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Code Geass Fate/Stay Night GunXSword Kaze no Stigma Mai Hime/Mai Otome Melody of Oblivion The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo TOKKO Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou You didn't mention Neon Genesis Evangelion, so I might throw that out there on the slim chance you haven't seen it, as well as Rahxephon which I feel is actually superior to NGE (*blasphemy!*). Enjoy! |

Black Lagoon Number of seasons: 2 Genres: action, adventure Plot summary: "Okajima Rokuro is a Japanese businessman…in a town full of Japanese businessmen. His normal day consists of social drinking with clients and being kicked around by his bosses. He finally gets a break though, as he’s sent by his company to the tropical seas of Eastern China to deliver a disc…only his boat gets hijacked by a band of mercenaries that were hired to steal it. “Rock†(as he is newly dubbed by his captors) catches the interest of the only female merc “Revy†as she thinks he’s worth a ransom, taking him hostage. However, the disc turns out to be more trouble than its worth, and complicates things both for Rock, and the mercenaries known as Black Lagoon." Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6159 Blassreiter Number of seasons: On-going Genres: action, science fiction Plot summary: "Faced with an outbreak of demonic blood, which transforms humans into insane and hideous creatures bent on violence and death, only one man can stand against the tide of destruction. Joseph Jobson, the only man able to control his cursed demonic form, must hunt down the man who cursed him and save the world from apocalypse." Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=9069 Samurai Champloo Number of seasons: 1 Genres: action, adventure, comedy Plot summary: "Mugen is a fierce animal-like warrior with a unique Bboying (break-dance) inspired fighting style. Jin has a more traditional style but don’t think of this as a weakness because his skills are amazing. The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime." Source: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2636 Fate/Stay Night Number of seasons: 1 Genres: action, fantasy, romance? Plot summary: "Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when he was young and was later adopted by a sorceror by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya. Although he was full of admiration for his adopted father and yearns to become an ally of justice, Shirou has limited powers and was unable to become a strong sorceror like his father. That is until one fateful day, he was drawn into the Holy Grail War and had to summon a female "Servant" known as Saber in order to protect himself. It turns out that the Holy Grail War involves a series of battles among powerful sorcerors to fight for the possession of a relic that will grant one's wishes, the Holy Grail. There are altogether seven "Masters" who can summon their respective "Servants" from different classes known as Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster and Assasin. These "Servants" have to hide their names in order not to reveal their weaknesses to the enemies. The story revolves around Shirou and his entanglement in the Holy Grail War." Other than some of the above already stated, thought you'll like Mnemosyne too. Though it might just be a 6 episode OVA, got a feeling is just the kind of stuff you might be looking for~ If you are good with little girls getting murdered, Higurashi no naka koro ni is great too... you'll love the way they get to die.... Man... now i sound morbit! |

Hmm, if you like Lain, you should give Boogiepop Phantom a shot. It has a very Lain-like feel to it and is a really good show. I also agree with Kirky though, you should watch Gurren Lagann. In fact why am I even posting this!? I need to go watch some more. ^__^ |
