Hi there! Have a question. Is it possible to order the contestants data information in the table with an specific criteria? I was thinking and it would be great to have an ordened data base before voting, for example, after the final scores given by the judges are available for all, a good criteria for the gendonians to know would be "Judges score", the higher is the note, the easier to find them at the top of the page, this will encourage everyone to listen to the better scores and consider to vote for them, instead of spamming votes =)

Pamela: thanks for your reply, really appreciate that and hope you will get well soon. Quick question: Sorry for saying this, but I'm curious why there are contestants who can get such a big difference of judges scores like 4-5 marks? I realised there are contestants who has a beautiful voice but they are using translation, so it affects the scores, but there are contestants singing in Japanese but got low score too. For the same contestant, there are judges who can give to 16/17, but there are judges who give lesser than 12 too. Is such a big difference. For example: Serenade - Maximum You Are My Love - Hime-sama Carrying You - KaYa Days by Flow - MaLiGnO Tsukihana - salita I Wish - sweetmizuki90 Mosaic Roll - Suvi I'm agree for the judges who give them high score, they deserved that, really. Therefore, I hope the judges can re-check just like what Pamela judge is trying to do. (I'm sorry if I've offended, I'm not even the judge.) But if you are trying to convince me by saying that every judges has their own view, doesn't that shows it's very unfair to the contestant? |

Hello Tokiko, I can respond for myself. First of all, if you read the rules, it clearly says that translations are not encouraged because it will affect the score, which is exactly what has happened. The reason why it is not encourage, it's because most translations really do suck...and phrasing is all over the place, seriously ruining a good song. Now, this doesn't happen all the time, which is why I take my time into checking the phrasing and making sure it flows with the melody and rhythm. Not all judges might want to do that. On the other hand, singing in Japanese doesn't ensure you a high score. For example, the song You are my love is WAY overplayed, and I don't find it challenging or special--therefore, I won't give a 5 to someone who sings it. Specially because everyone seem to imitate Yui Makino. Now, if someone really wows me with the song, I will maybe give them a 5. But, then again, that's just my own criteria. I can't speak for the other judges. Now...judges DO have their own view. I might like one song when another doesn't. It's just the way it works. Everywhere. In every single competition I've competed and judged. Just to give you an example. Check American Idol. One judge will LOVE a performance while another one thinks it totally sucks. Both points are valid, even when I might not agree with one or the other. I think judges tend to agree when they give lower scores. And maybe higher scores when the contestant is THAT good. I hoped that answered your question :) If you or anyone have any other question, I will be happy to answer ^-^ |

A guys singing a girl song or vice-versa works sometimes...not all the times. Most of the time, it takes away the feeling of the song in general, when someones lowers the key...sometimes the voice sounds almost like growling, and it really ruins it. On the other hand, I have heard some people who manage to pull it off. I have no idea which judge you are talking about, but if I didn't like a guy singing a girl song, it's because the guy didn't do a good job at it. |

@Tokiko A lot of the competetors this year tried not to pick overplayed songs, so they took a risk with songs that aren't frequently heard or popular. It's pretty much a guessing game poking at what kind of songs the judges like. Unfortunately some competetors didn't pick a song to the judges liking in which, good voice or not, they'd get a pretty gimped score. Honestly, I'm disappointed with this years judging. Maybe it's just me, but it feels as if it's a competition where song selection is the key role in scoring and not the person singing. If it's not a good song, the rest of the categories are thereby affected regardless of vocal performance. Some of the comments on these scores are completely unrelated to the voice as well, which is quite unsettling. Cheers to the best of the entries and best of luck in the next rounds ^^b |

Suvi: I'm sorry you feel that way. In a singing competition...the song selection is HUGE! It will influence a lots of things. I can tell you this based on my own experience. For example, at the Anime Expo Idol, I have heard wonderful singers and they pick bad songs...songs that don't seem to fit their voice, or songs that are simply boring and don't show off their skills, etc. It's very important to pick a song that will wow the judges. You want to make sure that you get them interested within the first minute. Otherwise, they'll stop listening. If you want to ask me questions about your own scoring, please send me a PM. I will be happy to explain my criteria to you :) Same goes if you have questions about other scores. Thanks :) |

Marianne, and Kurosuke: I'll let Gendou know! ^-^ Thank you!! Cresence: I'll be a bit more specific when it comes to my "not convinced" I'm still re checking my judging... :) Edit: I did have a lot of 'not convinced', didn't I? I must have been very sick... I am changing them right now :) I'm being more specific ^-^ Thanks for letting me know. I'm still sick right now, so I will be revising my judging until the very last day before public voting. Again, if anyone have any doubts or questions, you can post them here, or send me a private message. Thanks! |

A suggestion. Based off the comments I've been reading and judges comments that have been posted im thinking that maybe you should give yourselves more time to judge. Maybe extend it a couple weeks and set a quota for a day like I'm going to judge x many people a day that way you aren't having to go back and look at your comments. If you are doing only like say 5 people a day then you can take your time and elaborate on your judging without having to rush. Like I said this is just based off what I've read. Secondly I would like to agree with pame. Song selection is VERY important. When in a competition you want to pick a that is sung by a strong singer versus an entertaining singer. For example, say they're 2 finalists. 1 sings britney spears and one sings christina aguilera. They both nail their songs and sing them perfectly. Who do you think is going to win? The person who sang christina because she can notes higher than britney. Both singers are good in their own respective right but in a competition christina would win. Even from a japanese standpoint. You put a person who sings utada hikaru versus yui, the one who sings utada wins becauseshe has a higher note range but they are both good singers in their respective right. If you are singing for fun then pick any song but for competition you have to be selective. |

I have what four more days to listen and judge 160 songs... XD Maybe things should be private to judges until like, voting ends? I think on American Idol and some dance shows, the performers perform, then hear the judge's opinion, than the viewers vote. Then next week, they perform, but the loser is then revealed last so they still perform. Just a thought. ^^

Crescence and Tokiko were bannedWho else wants to argue with the judges? There's plenty of room on the ban list!Suvi, you still disappointed with my judging? Think you can do better? Juri Licious, who else you don't like? I'm sure everyone's interested to find out. I like DA's idea of not showing scores until the end, but always showing comments. This feature has been implemented, albeit a little late for this round. This obviates Kurosuke's suggestion of sorting the contestants by judge's scores. If you want, I can include rank # on the contestant page after the round is over.

| umm.... about the last criteria, on the production aspect, the last one states "Does the file include a video track, and how creative is the video?" wouldn't that be a big big minus for those who enters with song only or only static images or things like that? ._.? |

I wouldn't think so because if you creating a video then it has to be good. Those using the static image would be taking the safe route. If the video isn't great then it will backfire and cost points for that person. |
