I bet anyone who doesn't think that episode 4 isn't emotional than you can't see the absolute beauty of the series! This brings back some 'heartbreaking' memories from the game. First time i saw this in the game i was an emotional wreck T__T! Like i said the Sunohara/Mei arc is funny but it is so much more...it is one of the most satisfying arc in the game. Seeing it in anime form is the BOMB! The way Sunohara arrives to save his sister from those 'bastard' soccer players is just plain awesome. I like the way they also didn't really say who won the fight between them & the soccer players...same as the game. However my belief is that they lost but gained alot more respect from them since they took on the entire team on their own. He may be the blunt of all the jokes but when push comes to shove Sunohara is one of the best characters in the series. 'Best Friends FOREVER!!' that phrase basically sums it all up. The bond that Tomoya & Sunohara have is tight...they are more than just friends they are like family. I guess alot of you guys will have the same feeling as well...everyone has that ONE friend they can always rely on. @ Xiao-san Well look at what we have here....they are gonna do the Misae arc after all!!! This is gonna be so good!!!! I guess we will get to see Misae & Shima-kun in all their glory. I like it that they did decide to add her arc to the series cause her story is just as touching as all the other routes. It'll be a good chance to see how cool Misae really is & why Tomoyo admires her so much. I expect quite abit of flashbacks :)  |

@izumo-san : so true, that's a really good way to define "Friends Forever". i don't think the fight with soccer club matter much since the fight between sunohara and okazaki is much more meaningfull. I thought sunohara just being ignorant but he actually always trust his friend. I really love the epilogue of the epsd, its short but kinda sum up the relationship between sunohara and okazaki.

I just saw episode four now, and it was really awesome. I can't say I can look back on memories from the game, because I haven't played the game, but all I can possibly say is that this episode was beautiful. It's a very 'personal' episode, but there's still a joy while watching it. Kotomi was pretty funny during this episode. During the meeting in the club room, she was very cute (her dialog). Then later after Kyou, Ryou, and Kotomi see them after their fight, Kyou and Ryou say something typical you'd see after this situation, but she says "seems like fun", but it's funny during this scene because it happens in order. I had a good laugh. :D The fight between Tomoya and Sunohara is kind of like the ending of Samurai Champloo (if anyone's seen that anyways). It's not exactly the same, and things are a bit different, but the concept is the almost the same, or is similar to me anyways. I enjoyed the brutality of this episode, both physically and mentally. Like I said, it was a personal episode, but I think fans would really enjoy this one. He finally finds out the truth in the end, who Sanae-san really is. XD And with such an ending to a really amazing arc, it seems a new one is about to begin with the preview. :3

Oh give me a break. Episode 4 emotional and great. Ha have you people watched anything that wasn't a cliched overly dramatic anime that was written by monkeys. This episode was not believable in any aspect. Why the **** would tomoya and company go to the soccer team first? Why wouldn't they go to Sunohara? The soccer team didn't even seem that bad. They had every right to tell them to get out and hate sunohara. He fought with them and complained all the time. If I was on that team I would also want to mess with those bunch of arrogant people (tomoya) who would have the guile to actually demand that Sunohara come back to the soccer team. Come on, they all ready have all their set plays worked out and stuff like that, accepting sunohara would mean a lot more work for them. This lead up to mei being tortured which just made that look even more fake. It also doesn't help that the writing is so basic that everything is predictable and flat. Emotional Ha; waste of my time and absolute fail. Don't get me wrong, when they do comedy it is great. But you should be ashamed of yourself, and watch Koi Kaze. |

Oh boy, after I got back from my period of absence the thread is still moving slowly. xD Nothing short on the yohei arc. Akio just have to be the final boss after all ;D And yohei should learn that getting a devil to be your friend isnt that rewarding after all. ;D @sid: Koi Kaze? I have read the wiki entry about it... Seems interesting... I'll add it to my watch list. Thanks for the recommendation =D @izumo: I was wrong after all. But... if they were to do a one episode out of her arc... I am so going to kill them... That one episode of tomoyo's arc isnt good at all... When yukine was talking about her brother i thought they are going to combine the two arcs into one. Well i guess i panicked for nothing ^^; In any case, shimaaa kunnnnnn!!! i like his personality. ;D I am still wondering on how are they getting the scenes together, but i think that it will be great :D its one of the best arcs to me since i cried. But tomoyo and kyou arcs are still my 1st and 2nd best arcs in clannad visual novel! And damm kyoani for shortening tomoyo's to one ep. >_>" I am still hating them for that until now. Tch.  |

@sid: hmm what u said are partially true, but since this is an anime that we're talking about i don't really mind watching something overly dramatical xD. I think they already look for Sunohara and can't find him i might try Koi Kaze, kinda hard to get tho

Ya I can see what you are saying, it is good to have some anime like this every so often. I don't want to seem like an Art-house Anime elitist but they do have cellphones and e-mail which would have both have been better then going to the soccer team. I also saw that if sunohara really thought that mei and tomoya were a couple then his attitude toward mei was totally called for because he feels some detachment from his sister. But if you want overly dramatic then you should watch Rumbling Hearts. I am so glad I enlightening someones life with the greatness of Koi Kaze. |

Just saw episode four. ...it was...really weird. I thought it was kinda stupid for Tomoya, Nagisa, and Mei to listen to the soccer club as well...I was SO PISSED THEN. Seriously, getting the balls for them, and Mei...poor Mei-chan. >_< I mean, I know they were doing it for the sake of Sunohara, but he needed to get his act together sooner. Oh well, everything's back to normal now, I guess. It was also kinda painful to watch. =/ Ahh well, the ending was funny. xD Lol, I just love Nagisa's parents. I can't wait for the next episode...finally the spotlight is on Ushio! I hate the soccer club, by the way. D= |

Apparently Im not the only one who hates soccer club after watching the 4th episode XDD Jst finished it 5 minutes ago.. Well, kinda expected that scene when everything is being slowed down.. and bang,, DYNAMIC ENTRY Rofl And yeah, the part when they started picking on Mei.. I can Feel the sudden urge to punch my Laptop screen =/ I lol'd so hard during the ending though XDD The shocking truth finally revealed, eh?  |

A part I really loved was when Tomoya was going to fight Sunohara in the classroom. He was talking, and I thought it was just in Tomoya's head (thoughts out loud to the viewers), but when he snapped and grabbed Sunohara, it was pretty exhilarating. If it was some like, action/adventure anime where they had powers, you'd expect a good fight between long time friends. :D

@ Sid-san I respect your opinion & i know not everyone is going to like what they see, but i have to take exception of you calling the creator/writer of the series "Monkeys". These are the same guys that made argubably one of the saddest animes ever in AIR. The CLANNAD visual novel is considered one of the best ever made & even before the anime was ever made the series has a HUGE following. So these guys know what they are doing so i appreciate you have some level of respect. As you can tell the series is very special to me cause it was the first time i ever felt so moved from a story. The portrayal of family in the series is something that you'll never forget, well at least for me personally. Everyone has at one point or another have to deal with family issues, and how you handle them...that is the heart of CLANNAD. Again i have no hard feelings with you & an opinion is an opinion. I just took an exception of you trashing the creators of one of my fave stories. My reaction is probably the same that you will have if anyone trashed your (i assume) fave anime Koi Kaze. And no i'm not ashamed of myself :D ************************ Anyways some clarification on some points in the episode that were confusing. The whole idea of the Sunohara/Mei arc of the story is that both of these characters have grown apart over the years. Remember Mei & Sunohara do not live together. Mei is worried about Sunohara's way of life ever since he got kicked out of the soccer team. He has become more rebellious, delinquent & she feels he is avoiding her. She wants to see her brother be the same way as before which is why she was trying so hard. The anime doesn't really show you what Sunohara is doing when Tomoya & comp. try to find him. If you've played the game than you will know but for the sake of spoilers i won't go into it. That reason is why Tomoya & Mei didn't go to Sunohara cause they have no idea where he is or doing. Again you have to play the game to fully know the reasons of why Sunohara got kicked out of the soccer team. To make a long story short...the reason Sunohara is going to school cause of his athletic abilities & he was a star soccer player. That was taken from him by the soccer players who constantly 'bullied' him cause of various reasons (jealousy is one). Of course Sunohara could only take so much & thus it ended the way it did. Sunohara embarrassed the soccer team which is why they hold a grudge. It was Mei that wanted desperately for Sunohara to be let back on the team...Tomoya & Nagisa are just there for support. And of course you meet them personally rather than use a phone or email..it's like trying to get a job & doing the interview over email/phone...you're not goint to get the job that way. Since Sunohara is Tomoya's best friend he is going to stand up for him (that's what best friends do right?), also he wasn't going take the abuse the soccer team was dishing out to Mei, Nagisa & himself. Yes the appearance of Sunohara just in time to save his sister is predictable but still it was a great scene. And the line he says after "Don't you dare make Mei cry!"...everyone has something/someone they want to protect. Sunohara was protecting his little sister which show he still cares for her despite what Mei thinks. The end part was over dramatic but it shows how much friends that Tomoya & Sunohara really are. Often it takes a scene like this to snap someone out of things which is what Tomoya was trying to do. Sunohara didn't do anything when Mei & Tomoya are 'dating' cause he has so much trust in Tomoya that he thought it was okay. Hope that clarifies somethings about this episode. I really liked the nice touch that Kyotoani & the creators added at the end of the episode. THe very last image of the episode is the same one featured in the visual novel. Here is a comparison of the two.  Original version @ Xiao-san I believe the Misae arc will be at least 2 episodes perhaps even 3 to be able to fully tell her story. I agree it is one of the nicest arcs in the game although it was pretty minor in the overall story. I bet no one other than those who has played the game will know the outcome of this arc & the 'real' Shima-kun XD! Remember Tomoyo's arc wasn't shortened to just that one episode...in the series they did dive into some of her arc that didn't deviate from the Nagisa arc that the series is really about. They showed very little of Tomoyo's brother which was a shame though. Well since the CLANNAD anime is purely focused on Nagisa & Tomoya's relationship i guess fans of the other characters have to accept it :P |

Come on guys! Play the visual novel today! @suzaku: clannad will always have unique but beautiful moments :D and no she wont be coming out anytime soon, because Misae will take the spotlight next. :3 |

[@Suzaku] The last episode? Wow, haha. Well even if you see it not, it doesn't really effect anything concerning After Story, right? The last episode is like, a possible "teaser" for a future 'possible' anime series (relating to KyoAni most likely). It's a fun episode, if you love Tomoya x Tomoyo (hint**), you're going to enjoy the episode, yes. We discussed this a bit ago in this thread, you can dig into those posts later, but yeah, haha. Your decision.

First my fave Anime is Now and Then, Here and There. Second using Air to defend the writers not being monkeys is fatal flaw in any argument. It did make me laugh though. Lets just agree to disagree and stop this senseless bickering of opinions. |

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I do know who Ushio is. @ DA: Well, that's true...but I must watch it. :P I see...I hope there will be that possible series...I love KyoAni. >_< Tomoya x Tomoyo huh....sounds fun. :D Lol, I'm too lazy to do that. I'll just watch it when I can. @ sid: Well, I don't wanna get myself involved in this, but you did take part in sparking this discussion. Of course, we all agree that it was overdramatic during episode four, but you didn't have to trash talk the writers like that. Everyone has their own taste in anime. I respect the writers of Air, Kanon, and Clannad. Now, if you didn't like Air, that's fine. I'm not telling you you have to like it, cause if you don't, you don't. Just don't diss the writers like that. And also, we welcome you here to post your thoughts here about the series as it progresses, but if you only come here to blast all that talk out and have no intention to give constructive criticism/opinion as to how it could've been BETTER...then why come here at all?
