Many new anime series for Spring are streaming previews at their respective sites. For the most part many of them look really good. For example you can see the Tayutama one on my profile. The Phantom preview looks much better than the original series probably due to production values. Here is one that is of most interest for some especially Jon-san...the preview for Valkyria Chronicles is out which features the theme song by Himeka. It looks good! Here is the video for it....Valkyria Chronicles anime preview |

Much appreciated Izumo-san. I'm loving the look of it, somehow it feels like they managed to get some of the games visual flair in the anime. I can't wait for the first episode to go up so I can see it. Is it just me, or does Alicia look a little more. . . well endowed than in the game? My only concern now is whether this series will lean more towards dialogue and politics, or towards action and characters. |

Episode 1 of Valkyria Chronicles the anime series is up today! I am currently watching it Raw. I'll edit my post when I'm done for my opinions on it. Edit: I quite enjoyed the first episode, even though I only understood half of it since I'm not fluent in Japanese. They managed to keep (to some extend) the watercolor look of the game which I really liked. The voice work is well done, although I'm more interested in the English dub (if it ever gets made) and if A-1 will get back all the VA's from the game. A couple of the characters you can get in the game as part of Squad 7 were shown too, so thankfully it still features the side characters from the game. Opening song is very well done and beautiful (plus it's sung by a Canadian singer. High five Izumo-san and all my fellow Canadians!) and the ending song is pretty cute, what with all the chibi characters and the singing. For the most part it stuck to the game in the way the episode unfolded, except for a few differences. For example, just a few off the top of my head: -Martha leaves in a truck with some man before the Empire attacks, where as in the game she is with Isara in the Gunthers house after the Empire begins to attack. -In the game Alica and Welkin repel an initial attack of Imperials and Welkin returns to his house, where Isara and Welkin find the Edelwiess and move into town to destroy the tank attacking Alicia and the rest of Bruhl. In the anime a scout group spots Welkin and Alicia and they head for the Gunther house where they meet Isara and find the Edelwiess. Okay, enough VC fan talk. It was a great episode. I hope the rest of the series will be the same. |

Since Jon-san is posting about Valkyria, i might as well do the same for the series i'm following which is so far half of my Spring anime watching. First up... Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ - a remake of the original anime series based on the visual novel by Nitro+ (same guys who brought you Demonbane & Fate/Zero). First impressions that catch your eye is the pretty high production values. It looks much better than the original, the character designs are much more prettier to look at. Second the opening song by KOKIA is really hypnotic & really shows what this series is all about. Very dark, high intensity, keeps you guessing kind of series. Similar to other shows like Noir although Phantom was made first. - With the longer running in terms of episodes i hope it'll show more from the game that the original had to cut out cause of time constraints. Like the past of Zwei & how he became an assasin. Anyways first impressions were very good so far. One thing that wasn't as good as i thought it would be is the end song by ALI Project, it's a good song but i was expecting more. Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S - this one confused me a bit cause of not knowing if it is a retelling of the first series adding more content or a direct sequel since the game is split up into 4 parts. I have to see more of it to make sure. - What is different is the character designs to make them much more Moe...especially the redesign of Corti. Though her adult self is as tempting as the first series. - Again music by Eufonius which is once again absolutely beautiful...LOVE Riya!!! It'll be interesting to compare this new series to the older one. Queens Blade - Ummmm not much to explain about this one other than it is this years fan-service extravaganza!! The story is basically non-existant or plays 2nd fiddle to all the bouncy, heaving, did i mention bouncing. If you take a series like this too seriously you'll probably won't enjoy it. It's a series to be taken lightly for what it is...a male fantasy come true. Probably not for the female audience....first episode was what i expected & since i will be needing a series like this to 'relieve' some stress i'll be following it closely :L Now all i need is wait for Tayutama, Tears to Tiara, & the new ToHeart2 OVA and i'll be set this season. Sorry Jon-san but i'd probably have to save Valkyria Chronicles for the waiting list. It'll be one of those series i'll be power watching once it is complete. |

Talk about Spring 2009 taking the show away early, the titles have already been releasing like crazy, and there's more to come! Definitely have my hands full. Hopefully they're not all for show, but they should all be pretty good.

I've already seen To Love Ru and i actually liked it. short but good. I didn't really care for FMA the first time so i probably won't be interested in it a second time. Natsu no Arashi and Senjou no Valkyria are the only two that seem to interest me. |

Natsu no Arashi looks interesting, apparently they got bad reputation regarding the quality of the series tho.

Jesus, just when I start dLing some new series, I become busy with GFX related crap like making flyers for people and all that. Though I have a nice, yet incredibly short spring break coming up to use. XD Have they aired FMA 2 yet? I'm not sure if I'm going to check it out, as much of an FMA fan I am, but I want to see if it did air and somebody did check it out, I wanna hear some opinions.

I would create a Queen's Blade thread but i doubt many will post in it other than horny dudes like us :P I don't see what so bad about it, i've read so many negative reviews about it...man some people just need to lighten up a bit. It's a mindless fun fan-service filled anime series that isn't supposed to be taken seriously. If you want more dignified anime series there are many out there, however if you want to have a laugh at the outrageouness & silliness than Queen's Blade is a perfect series. After 2 episodes i'm enjoying the stuff they are actually allowed to show on TV! Something like this will never air in North America!! My fave character is still the samurai gal....her character design was my fave in the series before the anime aired. Also her doujins are pretty good too :L @ Jon-san You know what....i couldn't help myself but to watch the first episode of Valkyria & you know it's pretty damn good!!! Himeka's (GO CANADA GO!!) song is absolutely awesome!!! The end theme is annoyingly cute and the series looks great. I see they sorta kept the 'art-style' from the game too which is nice! Oh by the way...in the 'saddest moment in a game' or something similar thread i read about an event that happens in the game. After seeing the episode...That's just not fair!!!!! That character's first impressions really impressed me & he/she is my fave character so far!!! DAMMIT!!!!! DAMMIT!!!!! |

[@Izumo] lol, sure, sure. /agreesalong~~ :D Raizo's right though, jesus this anime has a HUGE (!!!) line-up of all-star seiyus!! O.O` I instantly knew Hirano Aya and Rie Kugimiya though. Maybe Goto Yuko and Kitamura Eri, but this anime better brings its A game! Nothing large by that though, just I hope this anime brings what I want it to bring and with a cast like this, it should bring more than double D's (of F's!!). The nudity was surprising to me though. I mean maybe some ecchi rip off scenes, but I was surprised to see more. No black bar or blurry spots either. I hope it doesn't get canceled or something with that first episode, but then again I hope it still continues to show it (not that I'm such a perv or anything), but I've noticed sometimes in the past where an anime gets a warning about something and has to change, it'll usually change too much over something so minor... but I'm not worried, the seiyu crew is just too great in strength. Well, if you do create it, just know I'll be one of the members to post on a daily basis. ^_~` On another note, and I already edited my post in the thread, I'm insanely disappointed in how Akikan ended and I'm sure I'm not the only person who followed not only the anime, but manga or whatever else as well. When you have time, swing by the thread to see my comments (forgot if I actually left any new ones or not :P). And yeah, about K-ON, it pushed back Haruhi again. Hopefully K-ON goes for a 22+ episode season! >_<;; Already read some future possible releases for Summer 09! >3<

@Dangel-san: i don't know much about Queen's Blade but i think the echiness in that series have been around long before the anime released. And the studio,ARMS are famous for producing lots quality hentai animes, so i don't think they will stop airing.

@Izumo-san - Yes, 'that characters' death comes as a big shock in the game, and if you watch the anime and haven't played the game then it's going to be sudden. Not sure how they will do that scene yet, but I expect it will be the same as the game. The dying words and the scene directly afterward are a bit tear jerking too. Haven't watched an episode of Queen's Blade yet, I've been meaning to get around to it. People always criticize things more than they should (Cynic: Me included!) but I don't think it will be too bad judging by what your saying. There's a lot of people apparently harping on Valkyria Chronicles as well, and I love how the anime looks and plays out. |

Well Queen's Blade is probably shown late at night & it is scheduled for 12 episodes so i don't see why they stop now. Oh yeah i forgot that it was made by ARMS, kinda figured since anything risque or close to hentai will be made by them, just like Ikkitousen, Kite, & they did make Elfen Lied! Actually they do make hentai too...like fan favorites Words Worth & who can forget the classic La Blue Girl Returns! @ Jon-san Yeah...it's probably not a moment i'll be looking forward too. I assume they'll stay faithful to the game since from what i can tell they are trying to do just that. It'll definitley happen close to the end of the series. I also read about the reaction Welkin shows after the event...there are many suggestions on why he reacted that way. I do kind agree with those takes though....about him being strong for the team since he is the leader after all. *off topic* I bet you're gonna pick up the DLC once it comes out next week eh? I'm looking forward for the Disgaea 3 trophies that will be included in a patch...the japanese version either has them already or getting them soon. |
